交换、打工度假、外派，只要在国外住过几个月，就会遇到要用英语剪头发的问题。今天就来告诉你剪掉多少、要不要打薄怎么用英语说。

Exchange, working holiday, an overseas posting — live abroad for a few months and you will need a haircut in English. Today we’ll cover how to say how much to take off and whether you want it thinned out.

单元一｜barbershop、salon 与前台用语

预约是 appointment，没有预约直接上门的客人叫 walk-in。

要别人帮你剪，动词用 get a haircut、get my hair cut 或 have my hair cut；I want to cut my hair 是你自己动手剪。

在前台这样说

Do you take walk-ins?	没有预约可以剪吗？
How long is the wait?	要等多久？
How much is a haircut?	理发多少钱？
Do you have a student discount?	有学生优惠吗？
I’d like to get a haircut.	我想剪头发。

单元二｜Just a trim 为什么不够

trim 是修掉一小段、发型不变。这个词本身不带长度，剪多少由发型师判断，所以要自己补上数字或落点。

Just the ends.	Can you just take off the split ends?
Keep it long.	I’d like to keep the length below my shoulders.

落点的英语说法是 fall，说 I want it to fall right about here，同时用手比出位置。美国和加拿大用英寸，一英寸大约 2.5 厘米。

交代长度这样说

Can you take an inch off?	可以剪掉一英寸吗？
I want it to fall right about here.	我想让长度停在这里。
I’d like to keep the length.	我想保留长度。
Can you just take off the split ends?	可以只修掉分叉的发尾吗？
Can I show you a picture?	我可以给你看照片吗？

用法提醒｜trim 和 take off

trim 当名词要加冠词，说 a trim 或 Just a trim，不说 I want trim；当动词是 trim my bangs。
剪掉多少用 take … off，off 不能省：take an inch off、take two inches off。inch 超过一要用复数 inches。

单元三｜clippers 号数与 taper／fade

电动推子叫 clippers，号数就是保留的长度。

刘海的美式说法是 bangs，固定复数。英国、澳洲、新西兰说 fringe，本篇采用美式。

My hair is too thick. Can you thin it out?	我发量太多，可以打薄吗？
Can you trim my bangs?	可以修一下刘海吗？
Just above my eyebrows, please.	刘海到眉毛上面一点。

单元五｜tip 怎么说

小费的名词和动词都是 tip。名词搭配 leave：leave a tip、leave a twenty percent tip。动词直接接人：I tipped her twenty percent，不说 I tipped twenty percent to her。

金额上，美国和加拿大给 15% 到 20%，英国 10% 到 15%，澳洲和新西兰不用给。

结账这样说

Can you add twenty percent for the tip?	小费可以加两成吗？
Is the tip included?	含小费了吗？
Can I pay by card?	可以刷卡吗？
This is for you.	这是给你的（递小费）。
Thanks, I really like it.	谢谢，我很喜欢。
